Containers

Set up containers to deploy your trackers in Leadtosale

The purpose of containers

Containers are what collect your leads from different trackers in one place. Generally these will map to a Google Analytics property.

Most users will have one container under a business, unless you have multiple websites, or some other grouping scenario.

An example of this is keeping all your offline call trackers in the separate container.

Creating a new container

You’ll be prompted to create a container when you first sign up for Leadtosale. However, if you want to create another new container, you can do this from within another container.

Select the Leadtosale logo or container drop down to open the side drawer menu. Within this menu, select the “+New Container” button to create a new container.

Configuring your container

There are several fields to configure when you set up a new container.

Container Name - allows you to differentiate your different containers. This field is required.

Google Analytics ID - determines where Google Analytics events will be sent by your trackers.

Facebook Pixel ID - determines the pixel which will receive events from your trackers.

Container URL - is an optional domain whitelist so people can’t deploy your container on their website.

When your container has been configured, click the ‘create’ button.

Your container will now be selectable in the hamburger menu.

Once you’ve created your container, you can add referral exclusions and auto event tracking.

Referral exclusion list - is a set of domains you can exclude from resetting your referral information. For example, you can stop referrals from Calendly resetting your referral information by adding calendly.com to your referral exclusion list. This accepts but subdomains and top level domains, but it’s recommended you only add top level domains to ensure you cover https:// and http:// versions of your site.

Auto event tracking - auto event tracking is now configured at the container level. For more information, check out our auto event tracking article.

Installing your container on your website

If you’re using your container to track leads from forms, phone calls or events on your website, then you can deploy all of your trackers through one container snippet.

To get your container snippet, go to the trackers section of your container and scroll to the bottom of the page. Here, you can select the “GET TRACKING CODE” button.

Add this script to every page of your website, as high in the <head> tag as possible. If you’re using Google Tag Manager, create a new custom HTML tag, and fire it on all pages. If you’re having trouble, get your web developer to help you.

SPA support

If your website is a single page application, our snippet supports it out of the box. No modifications required.
