Auto event trackers

Deploy Google Analytics, the Facebook Pixel and your HubSpot tracking code automatically with our container snippet.

The purpose of auto event trackers

Auto event trackers make it easy to deploy Google Analytics, the Facebook Pixel and HubSpot tracking code on your website, so that you can track page views, and on-site events.

This does not include form submissions, which are covered by form trackers.

Using auto event trackers will replace the use of Google Tag Manager on non-customised web analytics set ups. Meaning you do not need to:

  1. Learn Google Tag Manager.
  2. Learn JavaScript.
  3. Spend time configuring tags, triggers and variables in Google Tag Manager.

Leadtosale is still compatible with Google Tag Manager and other Tag Management Systems, if you’d prefer to continue using these.

Pre-requisites

Make sure you’ve created a container, and added your Google Analytics ID, and Facebook Pixel ID (both fields are optional) to your container.

If you have an ID associated to the container, the auto event tracker will automatically use that ID to deploy your configured page view and event tracking.

Creating an auto event tracker

Auto event tracking is now a container option. Go to the trackers page, and scroll down to the auto event tracker section to configure it.

Install Tracking Codes and Track Pageviews - if you have a valid ID for Google Analytics or Facebook pixel saved against your container, this will install the default Google Analytics snippet and/or Facebook Pixel and fire page views when new pages load. This will also send page views to HubSpot.

Track Mailto: Link Clicks - listens for clicks on email links, and sends events to the configured Google Analytics property, Facebook Pixel or HubSpot.

The events are sent as follows:

Google Analytics

Category: leadtosale
Action: email click
Label: {{the mailto element that was clicked e.g. mailto:example@example.com}}
Value: 0

Facebook

Sends a custom event called EmailClick, with no value.

HubSpot

Sends an event to HubSpot called EmailClick. Note that an enterprise subscription is required to track events.

Track tel: link clicks - listens for clicks on phone links, and sends events to the configured Google Analytics property or Facebook Pixel. We recommend this isn’t used in combination with a call tracker, as you’ll be double tracking phone interactions.

The events are configured as follows:

Google Analytics

Category: leadtosale
Action: phone click
Label: {{the tel element that was clicked e.g. tel:0211101828}}
Value: 0

Facebook

Sends a custom event called PhoneClick, with no value.

HubSpot

Sends an event to HubSpot called PhoneClick. Note that an enterprise subscription is required to track events.

Track when someone copies an email address - listens for when email addresses are copied the clipboard, and sends events to the configured Google Analytics property or Facebook Pixel if activated.

The events are configured as follows:

Google Analytics

Category: leadtosale
Action: email copy
Label: {{the text that was copied to clipboard e.g. email@example.com}}
Value: 0

Facebook

Sends a custom event called EmailClipboardCopy, with no value.

HubSpot

Sends an event to HubSpot called EmailClipboardCopy. Note that an enterprise subscription is required to track events.

Once you’ve finished configuring your auto event tracking you can save it using the “SAVE” button.
